Education
One of the missions of the RRWA is to educate members and the public on issues facing the Raccoon River and celebrate successes in protecting its natural resources. The RRWA works towards this goal by hosting and coordinating outdoor programs and presentations.
Citizen Science
Since its inception, the Raccoon River Watershed Association has emphasized the importance of Citizen Science activities. Over the years we have coordinated and encouraged members to do water testing, logging of plants, insects, birds, mussels and other life in the watershed.
Research
The RRWA supports relevant research in the watershed through their annual grant, promotion and partnerships. Since 2010 the RRWA has given out nearly $30,000 in grants. Research findings are presented at the annual “Life in the Raccoon” conference. All contributions to the RRWA Research Fund are tax deductible.
