Summer Solstice Prairie Walk

Where: Tipton Prairie, Greene County

When: June 21, 2022

Time: 9:00 a.m.

Join us as Mike Delaney, one of the founders of the Raccoon River Watershed Association and college professor will lead the walk through Tipton Prairie starting at 9:00 AM June 21,2022. Mike has been an advocate for Tipton Prairie and indeed the entire Raccoon River Watershed for 17 years. He will talk about the natural history of Tipton Prairie and the Raccoon River since the Wisconsin Glacier retreated from the area about 12,000 years ago. Geology. Archeology, Plant and animal wildlife will be discussed.


Tipton Prairie is located on south side of County Road E 57 between S Avenue and R Avenue in Greene County. Access is west of Adkins Bridge Access. This is also between Cooper to the west and Rippy to the east. It is also south of Jefferson and north of Jamaica.


There will be limited amount of slow walking on incline so best to bring walking shoes.
